How to press flowers into fabric?

wax paper and an iron, is there another way?

How to press flowers into fabric?
I'm not sure what effect you're looking for, but could you first press the flower then use spray adhesive to afix it to the fabric? I've seen this done with lampshades and it looks really nice.
Reply:The only way I have ever done it is with a hammer!

I used a solid piece of wood - a good, strong cutting board (one you don't mind a few dents in) works great. Put wax paper down first, then the flowers you want to use, face up. Place your fabric down, right side down (muslin recommended).

Or, simply tape the flowers down onto the right side of the fabric in any design you want. Place face down on the wax paper.

Then, start hammering away. What you're really doing is extracting the natural dyes in the petals and applying them to the fabric. Be sure to hammer from the fabric, this lets you easily measure your progress.

- Start with moderate blows, but note that some flowers require brute strength.

That's the way I have done it. It's a lot of fun and you can get some great images. To add some details I've used colored Micron Pigma Pens, .5 nib, to draw the details in.

Have fun!
