Ok I am having an Alice in Wonderland party for my 19th B-day in Aug. I have some ideas but wanted to know if anyone else had any other suggestions.
I was thinking about having one long talbe for everyone to sit at and have missmatched chairs around it. Of corse have it set up like a tea party with tea cups and pots red and white roses in a tea pot. Maybe use an up turned tophat and put flowers in that. Have mini cards, mushrooms, skeloton keys and random things along the center of the table. Or another idea was to use several round talbes and decorate them similiar what do you think?
I am having it in a Hall so there is alot of room I was going to hang playing cards from fishing line from the celling I was also hoping to get chinnese paper lanterns in bright colors but am not sure where to get them cheeply One thing I really wanted to do was have large flowerpots with dirt in them and stick yard flamingos, butterflys, and maybe a couple with a topiary in them.
Alice in Wonderland Party?
Hello, I'm planning on having an Alice in Wonderland themed sweet sixteenth in June and I'm having the same problem thinking of things to do, but here's some ideas that I have come up with:
Decorations:
Make topiary bushes out of an oasis sphere (can be bought from a florist, if not use styrofoam) and a broom handle. Attach them together and stick in fake white and red roses to create a "painting the roses red" feel. Also use lawn flamingos and hedgehog stuffed toys to have the croquet look. You can also have lots of teapots around. Maybe one big one with the doormouse peeking out of the top (stuffed toy.) Also I have bought an inflatable bottle of the internet (not too expensive) and I am going to attach a drink me label on it with cardboard and string and put it in the room. Decks of cards are a must and they can be placed almost anywhere, on the walls, tables, floor, even hang them from the ceiling with fishing wire if you can reach! Also I have bought A4 size cards from the internet and am going to glue them together to make a house of cards! Also, if you can (I'm currently struggling to find these), get some plastic tea sets and glue them stacked up leaning to the side, it will make a fab centrepiece. Also pocketwatches and clocks are cool to hang around. If you can, find a giant key and you can put it somewhere. Oh, and I almost forgot, I have made out of wood a signpost. I have nailed the sign bits onto the post really wonky so it looks wonderland-like. I have wrote things like "This way", "That way", "Yonder", "Up" and "Down" on them. This looks great!
Food:
Food can be either finger sandwiches and tea like the tea party, or you can do what I'm doing and just do cakes and biscuits, (as we are having food somewhere else beforehand!) The cakes and biscuits can read Eat me or they can be in the shape of hearts (for the queen of hearts) ,cards , cats or rabbits etc. The drinks can be labeled drink me!
Other stuff:
You could play flamingo croquet, or card games with your friends. You could even play spin the teapot or bottle but it will have to be again labelled drink me! Everyone will have to be dressed as a character from Alice in Wonderland, but if they are not the dressing up type, tell them that they can dress in foolish attire, for all to admire. This can be bright colours, clothes inside out, big hats etc.!
Hope this helps you and enjoy your very merry unbirthday party! hehe!
Reply:I definitly think the long table, cause that is how it is in the movie. I was thinking for the flower pots, that is what you could have the dessert in. They call it dirt, it is chocolate pudding with crushed up oreos on top so it looks like potting soil and you stick gummy worms and things like that in it. You could have that as place holders and everyone gets their own. With little flower pots and fake flowers. Just a thought! Have a fun party!
Reply:Honestly, it sounds like you have it all covered! You can try orientaltrading.com for most of these supplies.
Have fun, it sounds great!
Reply:the cat ?????????????????????????????????
Reply:Sounds great! I love the idea of the long table-fits in well with the Mad Hatter! Ialso have an idea for a drink-its a lime green punch, super easy, but tastes great! Just mix half gallon green Hawaiian punch with 2-liter Sprite. I always put shaped ice cubes in, too, if you can find some to fit your theme.
Hope you have a great time! (and happy early birthday!)
