Men! Divorce! Lies?

Ok so my ex-husband (still legally married) cheated on me 2 years ago and that is when i kicked him out. I told him he could file the papers and pay for the divorce. So 2 years later he fianlly files them at the end of 2005 and we sign them in 2006 and then we find out they are void because they were made in 2005. So he goes and has them made again finally in June 2006, and is now in a hurry to have them signed. We have a 3 1/2 year old together and he says last month he wants her to be in his "friends" wedding as the flower girl which is this Saturday, i have no problem with it. He was supposed to pick her up and have her fitted for a dress 2 weeks ago he never called. He picks her up today and i ask about the wedding he says it was canceled.??? Myself and my family had a feeling he was getting married and thats why the rush for the divorce papers and now since their "friends" wedding was canceled makes me believe it more. The problem is I now refuse to sign them. They aren't correct.

Men! Divorce! Lies?
Your problem is you told and let "your ex" file the paperwork. Get off your butt and file them yourself. Or be with his attorney with a free paralegal or your attorney.

If my wife were to ask me to file papers for divorce, do you think I'm going to file paperwork to get the short end of the stick? Not hardly (fair yes). If you want the divorce decree tailor made to your specifications... Then you better be there to specify... Regardless if you want or do not want to be in the same room as your ex.
Reply:Contact the womans center or legal aid and get the divorce papers yourself. You will have a lot more leverage in the divorce if you file.
Reply:Seems to me the easiest way would be to get them drawn up correctly yourself, including the verbiage you want to be sure is in there, and present them to him for signing... yeah, it'll be an expense, but which is more important? A few bucks, or being saddled with this guy?
Reply:I am not sure whether you are residing , as different countries have different laws. I believe that you shld get a lawyer to settle maintenance issues etc. Also child access is anor issue. Cld u both not share the next lawyers bill?
Reply:Yeah, sounds like you need to DIY if you want it done right. It it a possibility?
Reply:call your local dept of children and familys or if you have a free legal service in your area they will help you with all of this
Reply:Sign them why do u want to be married to him anyway also seek free legal help to make positive he will pay for your child's support. If he's your ex you shouldn't care if he remarries and if you do than you still have feelings that need sorting....and maybe these r not feelings of love but maybe even revenge? Sign the papers be done with this man start a new chapter in your life and move on to bigger happier events. BTW let his child be in his wedding she'll thank you for it one day and you will come out like the adult that your are supposed to be to her.
Reply:Hold you ground!!! It sounds like he found his next wife. Let him pay again for the papers. If he would have done it right the first time he wouldn't pay so many times. Maybe he thought you won't read them....Just sign them to get it over with.
Reply:I would get a lawyer to act on my behalf
Reply:u go to mediation, what u cant settle between the two of u, u take it in front of a judge and u have the judge settle it for u.. time to get a lawyer..
Reply:You will need to seek legal advise. Your attorney will always look out for your interest and that of your child. Do not allow yourself to be bullied into this situation. You will have to invest some loney on legal advise in order to protect yourself.
