Need help removing old texured wallpaper.?

I have tried peeling the top layer,just got tiny pieces.Have tried scoring with the scoring tool and then using DIF to get to the glue softened.No luck,this is an old 60s style wallpaper that has many rasied flowers and branches.I havent tried steaming but i cant see how that would penetrate this paper.Any help here,I could lose my mind.

Key is to get the top layer off and then steam the back paper/glue layer. You stated the paper may be from the '60's, so you WILL have your work cut out for you.



The other option is to install new drywall OVER top the wallpaper. Either way is going to take time.



I have done the steaming way, and it does take time.....and patience too. Good luck.
Reply:Hi Racerx, I use Vinegar (white) and water. Half and half. Spray the walls good and let the wall set and wait about 10 times and use a plastic putty knife and it will come off easily. Be for start taking the wall paper off where you spray,spray another part of the wall and it will be ready when you finish the wall you are working on.. This really works. A Friend.

Reply:LOL dont loose it , in time maybe but not now , . ok use your tool and wet the paper real good with a spray bottle and scrape the dickins out of it but do small parts at a time ok , and then you blast it with a HOT blow dryer and scoreg at once, add water as needed this softens the paper to scor easier and softens the glue as well , , try this , see what happens ,

Reply:The easiest way to remove wallpaper is definitely to score it. But before you begin trying to remove it just with scoring, try this:



Once you have scored the paper all over (up and down, across, every which way), use a spray bottle that is filled with windshield washer fluid (the blue kind). Spray this all over the wall. You may want to do it twice to make certain. Let it soak in and then, slowly peel off the paper. Whatever is left can be scraped off. This windshield washer fluid works great! After many, many years in design, it is the best way we've found and not only does it work better than the stuff they'll sell you in the store, it's way cheaper to use.



If this doesn't work, you won't have much choice but to steam and scrape as you go.....
