being that news paper is pores is it possible to recyicle it
back intoo the ground as digging deep enough intoo the
ground mix fresh soil ontoo a bed and plant your bulbs
or flowers would it help stopping the weeds ,,from
invading instead of using chemicals
Ridding weeds,,?
A layer of newspaper will keep weeds down and eventually break down into the soil. Many people use newspapers with layers of organic materials on top. Common materials to use include, peat moss, manure, grass clippings, compost, straw... You can dig into the organic material and through the papers and plant into the soil. This method is known as lasagna gardening
Reply:I have used newspaper in the beds before. I first added the compost and other ammendments, newspaper layer, then mulch. I've read somewhere not to use colored ink or paper. It did help cut back back on weeds though it did break down fairly quickly. We had some bermuda grass and it came through.
Reply:i've been in to gardening for a long time and this is the first time i've heard of lasagna gardening ,but it does make sence .I dont think the ink or color in news print will be to good for your garden ,but it will keep down the weeds, and brake down in the soil .just use a good mulch that will do the same and will be better for your soil .
