My fiance would like a simple wedding in a registry office. and there are a few questions i wondered if anyone knew the answers to.....
1. How much is it to get married in a registry office?
2. Do you have to have certain papers before you get married?
3. Are flowers and decoration extra in the price?
4. Also do you have to get married in a registry office in the county that you live in?
Thank you X
Getting married as soon as possible in a reg. office....HELP?!?
Most questions you asked have already been answered, just to add that when we were married in a Register Office, there were large vases of flowers around the room, plenty of space for guests and the Registrar who conducted the ceremony was absolutely lovely. We found the wording of the ceremony was very meaningful.
We chose to marry in a Register Office because ours was a "mixed marriage" and both sides of the family were rather less than enthusiastic.
Your banns will be displayed for 3 weeks, where members of the public have access, so that there is an opportunity for anyone to say if there is a legal reason why the marriage shouldn't take place (like, they know one of you is already married)
We've had our "cat and dog fights", but I hope you will be as happy as we have been for 48 years - and they said it wouldn't last!

3. there are flowers supplied which are quite nice usually
4. yes unless you live in seperate countys then you can marry in either
Reply:1. Around £100
2. Birth certificate - Divorce papers if applicable
3. No, you can supply your own or most places usually have their own standard ones
4. No, you just have to apply in the county you live in. I live in South Cambs but was married in North Herts.

If you both live in the same county then yes the place of marriage will generally be within that area - you don't have to use a registry office though (see link above). If you live in different administrative areas you can choose which one to marry in, although you have to notify the proposed marriage in both areas.
Reply:1. Ours was no more than £100 last September.
2. Yes, you need to go and speak to the registrar and they need to advertice your wedding for a minimum of about 14-21 days.
3. I don't think they will arrange these for you, other than the standard stuff which is usually fine.
4. Yes.
Which County are you in? All these questions will probably be answered with a quick look at your councils website.
