i just bought an iron on transfer paper from jo ann fabrics and i only have a kodak easy share printer that prints 4 by 6 pictures? can i cut the transfer papter that size and use it in my kodak printer? not sure? also can i use a white fabric that has real light purple flowers on it to transfer that image onto? or do i need a solid color?

Question about iron on transfers...inexperienced!?
You can cut the transfer paper.

You can transfer the image to any color or pattern you want to.

Important - make SURE the iron is hot enough before you start the transfer, and put a piece of cardboard or something inside the shirt to keep the transfer from bleeding onto the back of the shirt.
Reply:No. The transfer paper is made specifically for injet printers. I would not risk trying that paper on your nice photo printer (it may melt the transfer onto the inner part of the machine.

There are two types of transfer paper: one for light fabrics and one for dark. If the fabric you are using is a light fabric (basically white), use the transfer paper specifically for white fabrics. Anything else, use dark. Don't use the transfer paper for white fabrics onto dark. It will not turn out (trust me...from experience).

For your project, I would just use the transfer paper for dark fabrics only because you will be using printed fabrics.
Reply:There's another, cheaper option here. Use white butcher paper, and iron it onto plain white fabric. It will stick. Cut it to 4 x 6 size, and you can print your picture right onto the fabric. just watch for jams. Then peel off the butcher paper, and you can applique the picture to whatever you want to embellish. Just remember to hand wash in cool water, and drip dry. Most inkjet inks are colorfast under these conditions.
Reply:Not sure about the printer but you should definitely use a solid colour to do a transfer otherwise the shirt colours could show through on your picture and ruin the design.
