Talk Let us talk about gardens shall we?

It is my honest belief that there are no such things as a weed in anyones garden. If one thinks about it our so called weed is in reality a wild flower growing in the wrong place.

Who has not marveled at a field or any piece of waist ground that when carpeted with Buttercup, Dandelion, Nettle or Foxglove, even the humble Milkwort, has not had their breath taken away by the beauty of the humble wild flower.

My garden in Australia is what I call a Betwixt and Between garden. Every plant , every seed is planted wherever I happen to be standing at the time. A Mock Orange bush has seeded itself by the front gate: most inconvenient at times, but why move it? For it is happy there, and so I squeeze past, often getting my pants wet from the dew that has gathered upon its leaves during th early morning.

From my front door and leading to the road, the edging to my path is made of Paper Bark limbs. It is not unusual for me to walk the path in one direction in the morning,

I read a book some years ago, which illustrated weeds and wildflowers. It made me view weeds from the perspective you describe.
Reply:I believe weeds are beautiful. And delicious, lol.I eat dandelion greens.Make a good liver tonic from the flower. And I also like wild lettice, plantain, mustard.all kinds. If people would learn about the wild plants that grow, they would be amazed of what they have to offers us.
Reply:Delightful excursion in your garden down under! Wishing I could write poetically about ours...alas, the rocks overwhelm it.

(We're trying!) Love Mock Orange...it will not grow here, unfortunately.

More please?
Reply:That's all we're gonna do...is talk about them.

I'm not gonna pick them...I like mother nature au naturel.

She paints such a beautiful landscape.

Everyone stops to smell the roses.

Give weeds a chance...................

Reply:Your devotion to your garden and the beauty of nature is palpable in your writing. How loving your inclination to keep the Mock Orange where it settled itself! I feel as though I have paid your Betwixt and Between garden a visit, so vivid is your description, and it is just beautiful. Thank you.
Reply:I love Queen Anne's Lace myself and it's thought of as a weed here. I love thistle and golden rod as I'm not allergic to it. I love bluebells and dandelions. I have a flower that I call lion's mane here that I can blow the seeds off. People think it's dreadful flower but I think it's a lot of fun. It's white and fluffy. I love gardens. I have roses and lilies in mine. I like to write poems about flowers. I'll have to find those poems.
Reply:I love weeds too. We had a very mild winter and the Hen bit bloomed like wild fire overcoming everyone's lawns. So many were upset at the fact, but I thought it was among the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. Waves of purple all the way down the street. I also enjoy what we call cottage gardening which sounds like your Betwixt and Between garden where there is no rhyme or reason to planting. If I think it will look good there then that is where it will go. Thanks for sharing. I love gardening.
